After the publication of the private residence of Kris Victor Pieters from Victors in the Belgian magazines Feeling Wonen/ Gaël Maison also the German magazine HAUSER brought an nice article about this "brutalisic, architectural gem" in Aalter, Belgium. Focusing on the extraordinary archtecture of architect-graphic designer Achiel Hutsebaut (1936-2020). Hutsebaut designed not only this house but also the garden, and even the mailbox....
Achiel Hutsebaut created this "architect's home" in 1970 according to a rigid graphic plan of layout. A central 'ax' - and this can be taken literally - runs in the middle of the house, from one side with living room and kitchen, to the other side with bedroom / bathroom / dressing. Along the way you encounter two extra rooms, as well as toilet with hall and office.
Caracteristic of this house is the concrete roof structure with round skylights on the flat roof. This house has received a contemporary update (Minus, Poperinge) over the past 5 years, without deviating from the original plan and with respect for the soul of the house.
As a matter of evidence this home is furnished with "design icons" that Victors distributes, such as the creations of Danish modernist Hans J Wegner for Carl Hansen & Son.
