Historical relevant design made in recycled plastic... for a nicer world
The OCEAN collection was initially designed in 1955 in wood veneer, by the 20th century, prestigious designers Jorgen and Nanna DITZEL. In 2019, MATER DESIGN reintroduced this collection with slats made from recycled plastic from the sea. In concrete terms, fishing nets that were previously dumped in the sea are now processed into MATEK (TM). This basic material created from "recovered plastic" resulting as the slats of the OCEAN collection. The steel frame suitable for outdoor use - 20% recycled steel tube, gunmetal - can also be processed for circular use
Carlsberg turns green: circular economy on the rise
In 2021, Mater design entered into a partnership with Carlsberg, one of the largest breweries in the world, to expand the OCEAN collection. Recycled plastic from green Carlsberg beer kegs become the basis in green. This variant has dark green slats made from used plastic beer kegs. Materdesign makes a nice contribution to the circular economy.
The Ocean collection
The Ocean armchair is available from 290 Euro + VAT (black and green color), the sand-colored armchair costs 345 Euro + VAT. There are tables for 2 persons (40 x 70 cm) from 525 Euro/+ VAT. And tables for 4 people (140 x 70 cm) from 670 Euro + VAT. The Ocean lounge chair and Ocean lounge table are available from 435 Euro + VAT.
