The Wegner home office chair CH621, designed in 1948
This 1948 design, the CH621 by Hans J Wegner, fits perfectly into the concept of “the aesthetics of the timeless home office”. This rare swivel chair, the CH621, is the first of its kind in the collection and one of the few examples from Wegner's extensive portfolio.
The base of this swivel chair has a ‘ballet-like posture’ with an industrial look. The CH621 confirms Wegner's interest in combining metal with organic wooden elements in its design language. This residential chair offers an elegant balance between precise ergonomics and modern aesthetics. It features a sleek, brushed stainless steel frame that operates on five castors.
Wegner collaborated with doctors and physiologists to develop a chair with ideal lumbar support and seating position, and was one of the first modern Danish designers of the mid-20th century to take ergonomics as a guiding principle throughout his career. The CH621 swivel chair reflects this in an ergonomically designed seat, backrest and armrests upholstered in leather or fabric. The height of the chair is easily adjustable by means of a modern gas spring, and five sturdy castors ensure flexible movement.
