Elzerd lounge: tested and approved
During Design District (May 2025), RSGA Design launched the ELZERD Lounge, designed in 1956 by Koene Jan ELZERD Oberman - owner of Gelderland Design. This lounge was immediately tested - and approved - by Belgian visitors at this fair.
In 2025, the ELZERD was taken back into production, and restored to its former glory: slightly modified by Roderick Vos, to contemporary standards.
TIMELESSLY COMFORTABLE
The comfort of the ‘2041 ELZERD Lounge’ is unseen and its design timelessly neutral. And with improved comfort compared to the original. Using no-sag springs in the seat and lumbar, high-quality Pantera foam, with seating position identical to the original. Only the size has been increased by 4%, considering human body evolution.
CUSTOMISABLE DURABLE QUALITY
As always with Gelderland Design, there is an extensive choice of upholstery or leather. "Fabric customer" is also among the options.
The organically shaped armrests - in varnished walnut (later possibly also in oak) - are also originally designed by Oberman. The addition of an optional neck cushion - with a nice detail at the back - further enhances (neck, reading) comfort.
The at first sight slender base is also reinforced by an additional cross bracing in the metal frame: increased stability and durability. As standard, this base is powder-coated in Ral 7021 black grey, but can be painted in any RAL colour - at an additional charge (of only 150 Euro vat included).
Like all Gelderland Dedign sofas, the cover of this model is easily replaceable (fitted with upholstery strips).
The ELZERD 2041 Lounge is available from 1,870 Euro including VAT (cat. A or fabric customer), up to 2,145 Euro including VAT (most expensive fabric category E). And optional cushion from 178 Euro.
